Camelops is an extinct genus of camel from North America. It went extinct in the Pleistocene, about 10,000 years ago. It is known that early humans hunted it.[1]

DescriptionEdit

It was just over two metres tall, slightly taller than the Bactrian camels today. Because soft tissues generally don't fossilise, it is unknown whether Camelops had a hump (like modern camels) or didn't (like modern llamas).

DietEdit

It was an opportunistic herbivore, meaning it ate any plant matter available, like modern camels.
