Argentinosaurus was a large sauropod dinosaur from the Cretaceous of Argentina.

DescriptionEdit

Argentinosaurus remains are incomplete, but from what we can determine it was one of the largest known dinosaurs, measuring up to 30 meters or more in length[1] and weighing 80 to 100 tonnes.[2]

ClassificationEdit

Argentinosaurus was a sauropod dinosaur belonging in the clade Titanosauria.[3] Its full binomial name is Argentinosaurus huinculensis.

DiscoveryEdit

Fossils of Argentinosaurus were discovered in the Huincul Formation of Neuquén Province, Argentina. It was described in 1993 by paleontologists Jose Bonaparte and Rodolfo Coria.[4]
